Patagonia's We Can Get There From Here Tells is Inspiring
Patagonia Workwear unveils its latest film dubbed 'We Can Get There from Here' which follows an inspiring story of a pioneering oyster warmer. It tells the journey of how oysters are grown and showcases a figure for working at the waterfront in which it would be restored and built up rather than depleted over time. Abby Barrows spent years studying marine microplastics all over the world and came home to find a side project that keeps her close to the water.
She bought the lease of an oyster farm on Deep Isle, which now functions as a flourishing business. It is a great space to nourish family bonding and work the water to reimagine more sustainable possibilities of fisheries. It is important to note that profit is not the main goal. Barrows notes “Doing better doesn’t always mean more, it might even mean less. For the business it’s the economy of scale, throwing that on its head, what works for us, what works for this island, for this community. I know this is a drop in the ocean, but it takes a lot of drops to change things.”
