ALDI has announced the arrival of recyclable butter packaging in the UK for its private label product to give it an eco-friendly edge over the competition.
The packaging will start showing up next month and will replace the non-recyclable packaging found on the brand's butter blocks with a paper-based wrap. This packaging is suited for at-home recycling, and will be observed across the brand's private label Specially Selected West Country and Yorkshire block butters. The packaging update is anticipated to remove over 10-tonnes of non-recyclable packaging from being used every year.
Plastics and Packaging Director Luke Emery commented on the new recyclable butter packaging saying, "We are committed to minimising plastic packaging at Aldi, and we are constantly exploring ways in which we can make a meaningful change to our products. Through the introduction of these new recyclable packaging innovations, we hope to help customers reduce plastic use when shopping for everyday items at Aldi.”
